Focus on solving your audience's problems while showcasing how specific products can help. This content can live on a blog, YouTube channel, podcast, social media, or email newsletter. The key is creating genuine value that builds trust with your audience before promoting products.
3. Promote Your Affiliate Links
Strategically place your unique tracking links within your content. These links contain special codes that identify you as the referrer. Be transparent with your audience by including proper affiliate disclosures as required by FTC regulations. Focus on products you genuinely believe in, as authentic recommendations convert significantly better than random promotions.
4. Audience Takes Action
When someone clicks your affiliate link, a cookie is placed on their device that tracks their activity. If they complete the desired action (typically making a purchase) within the cookie duration period (anywhere from 24 hours to 90 days depending on the program), you receive credit for the referral. The entire process is seamless for the customer—they pay the same price as they would without your link.
5. Earn Commissions
Merchants track your referrals and calculate your earnings based on their commission structure. This might be a percentage of sales (1-50% depending on the product type), a flat fee per lead, or a hybrid model.
